The Summer Staff

In hiring the staff for the summer, The Salvation Army looks for dedicated and enthusiastic people who have a personal Christian commitment and a desire to share God’s word and bring a variety of skills to enhance the camping experience for each child.

CABIN COUNSELOR (Must be at least 18 years old )

Salary $200.00 a week plus room and board

Counselors should have previous experience in working with children. A Counselor is required to live in a cabin with the children. A separate room is provided for the counselor. The proper care and leadership of the youth in their spiritual, physical, social and emotional development is vital to the mission of our camp. Counselor should enjoy sharing God’s word, working with young people, hiking, recreational activities, swimming and have some knowledge of outdoors living skills.

WILDERNESS CAMP COUNSELOR

Salary $225.00 a week plus room and board

In addition to the skills listed above for Cabin Counselor, a Wilderness Camp Counselor needs to be physically fit enough for aggressive hiking, camping out, mountain bike riding, and other outdoor activities. Must have some type of outdoor living experience.

PROGRAM TEAM (Must be at least 18, preferably 20 or older)

Salary $250.00 per week plus room and board

Responsible to work with Program Director in developing, preparing and implementing the day to day activities. This team would have the combined skills to carry out organized recreation, crafts and evening programs. This team assists the program director in camper discipline and staff discipline. Must be a good Christian role model on and off camp property, both during camp sessions and on break days between sessions.

LIFEGUARD

Salary $190 (Negotiable if WSI) a week plus room and board

Current lifeguard certificate and training with CPR and First aid certificate required, as well as Pool experience.

 

HEALTH CARE PROVIDER

Salary negotiable

A Registered Nurse RN will be team leader, supported by either RN, LPN, EMT or student nurse.  Current CPR and First Aid must be current.  Previous camp experience helpful but not essential.

 

ASSNT HEALTH CARE PROVIDER

Salary negotiable

Must be an RN, LPN, EMT, Student Nurse or current Red Cross First Aid with experience in assisting in medical care.  The Assnt Health Care Provider will assist the Health Care Providers at all three camp, roaming as needed.

 

SECRETARY

Salary $190.00 a week plus room and board

Possess excellent organizational and communication skills.  Must have a pleasant attitude and ability to initiate and complete tasks.  Must be able to type, operate basic office equipment and have basic computer skills using Word programs.

 

CRAFT DIRECTOR

Salary $190.00 a week plus room and board

Using a variety of materials, you are responsible to maintain an exciting camp craft program.  Keeping supplies and the craft house in order is important.  Must have patience and the ability to teach and demonstrate age appropriate crafts.

 

 

CHRISTIAN EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Salary $250.00 per week plus room and board

Responsibilities include planning and implementation of all worship services, Christian Education program and evening programs.  Mentor and support staff and be involved in the leadership aspect of the CIT program.  Must be a good Christian role model on and off camp property, both during camp sessions and on break days between sessions.

 

 

CIT “Counselor in Training”

Salary $175.00 per week plus room and board

This training program offers experience and guidance as future Counselors and provides an opportunity to work at both Camp Gilmore and Mt Crags and possible Wilderness Camp.

 

 

HEAD COOK

Salary $400.00 a week plus room and board

Responsible for planning, preparing and serving daily meals, utilizing and supervising kitchen and dining room staff.  Must have experience in cooking for large groups.  Responsible to maintain cleanliness and health issues in kitchen and dining hall.

 

THIRD COOK (Six positions)

Salary $180.00 a week plus room and board

Work with Food Service personnel on basic food preparation and maintaining cleanliness and organization of kitchen and dining room.

 

DINING HALL CREW TEAM

Salary $165.00 a week plus room and board

Work under direction of dining hall supervisor.  Works as a team in setting tables, food prep and serving, washing and putting away dishes.  These are new positions, replacing Waitresses and Dishwashers. 

 

DINING HALL SUPERVISOR (Two positions)

Salary negotiable a week plus room and board

Responsibilities include running dining hall and meal times and supervising Crew Team.

 

CREW CHIEF

Salary negotiable plus room and board

Must be 21 or older with valid drivers license

Direct and supervise maintenance crew. Must have knowledge of various aspects of maintenance and have some supervisory experience..

 

MAINTENANCE WORKER

Salary $165.00 per week plus room and board

Work with crew chief in maintaining both camps.
